MY DOUBLE PAGE SPREAD ARTICLE

Diamonds in the dirt star Liam Bendelow has risen to the top with a shine and a sparkle throughout 2013, being in the press and local newspapers for everything sex, drugs and rock and roll.

Last night the singer was performing for the first time back at Wembley stadium the indie rock band 'Diamonds in the dirt' start shows real dedication to his work from now on. How long will it last? We don't know. The lead singer is looking sexier and buffer than ever since the split up, creating a new album on his own and cooking up a storm with the local press. The Middlesbrough born singer has really cooked up a storm already his year releasing a new album and a live tour for 2014, with many dates still to be released. We caught up wit the man fresh of stage for an exclusive interview on why the group is no more and what's its like to go from a band to a solo artist.

Your looking a little bit sweaty here Liam, did you enjoy your gig?

Yeah It was crazy, the fans are amazing! I couldn't ask for better and that comes from my heart.

You must have some loyal fans to be able to come back after what happened to you and your band?

Yeah I do , I cat thank them enough, I miss the boys and so do they but it brings us closer together now and its nice to be free for a while. Just to do my own thing.

What did you do in your free time, did anything weird happen to you, it normally des to the artists hat are so big? Want to share?

(Laughs) It did actually, I got followed into the toilet by 2 men and 2 girls it was a bit surreal if im honest. I take stuff like that lightly though and its quite funny anyway.

That seems a little crazy. Did you see your ex band mates on your travels or are you still disappointed with what happened with them in the end?

I am still upset, we did not have to split up. I loved the boys as a family and its a real shame. I hope we can sort something out in the future but as for now im sort of getting my own back.

Whys that?

Its not intentually, but im successful on my own and they will be jealous that I have made it so far without them.

Oh I see, have you got a girlfriend yet, im sure the fans will want to know?

Im not seeing anyone at the moment, its a long time since ive been with anyone, so its not really my first priority any more.

That's fare enough, would you ever date a fan. That's if they didn't follow you to the toilet( laughs)

(laughs) yeah I could, they would have to be right for me though. I would love to if they not a crazy fan like you have states ( laughs again)

Are you looking forward to your tour and the loads of different places you are going this time, that's exciting.

I defiantly am. I cannot wait, the fans, the road, the staff, just everyone the whole experience is amazing every time.

.. and the money cant be bad either?

( laughs) No its not, that is a plus

Is a new album on the cards to?

The main focus at the moment is the tour and making that run smoothly. But after that I hope so. Very much!

This was the double page spread article that I created. I hope it is up to standard and I have tried to portray a light hearted and fun feel to it, so that the age group that the magazine is targeted is reflected.

THIS IS MY FINAL PIECE OF WORK. THIS IS THE FRONT COVER OF THE MAGAZINE. WHICH I NAMED FLAWD. ITS INSPIRATION CAME FROM Q MAGAZINE AND NME.

This is a good example of what type of magazines that I like to read and what music I like to listen to. At this stage I am finished with the cover of the magazine and my concentration is focused on getting the right photography for the contents page and the double page spread and to also write the article properly.

This is my up to date contents page. It is missing photography but that is it. This is because I am getting the photos of Tuesday.
It is a very detailed piece and looks really good in my opinion. Its all in line and I really like this.  I have also added a concert photo on the little box at the bottom from when I went to see arctic monkeys.






















Here is my double page spread so far. I also need photography to put on here but again I am getting that on Tuesday. I AM CURRENTLY in the middle of writing my article and nearly finished then the last party I will have to do is the photography and sort that out.

I haveno finished my article. It sounds okay.

I really like the idea of one person or a band stood centre page on the front of my magazine. In a good location or with a grey or black background with white writing. However, my colour scheme is a mix of white, black, red and yellow with blue. A good location I believe would be somewhere desolate and dark, for a indie magazine. Somewhere old and worn and with clothes which are like that also. Even the theme could be dirt and it could still work. Women would also be attracted to it also.  I want the setting to be somewhere in the countryside or just weird and that the artists stand out.

 

I want my models that are willing to help to either one be an artist or have a group and for it to look something like this.

The arctic monkeys pictures I also love and I think there really effective and something I am going to try and do with my photography. I think that the group photos would make the most impact and I like them allot better even though I love the vanity one.



I don't really want to use props unless its a funny kind of shoot.If I was to use any I would use paint and put the artist in it if they were also willing to let me. I think it would really good and effective or if not use that one for the cover but use it for the double page spread. For the double page spread I also like this idea for it. If there was many of them .

I would dress them in indie clothes, or old scraggy to create effect, if it was a certain issue. I really just want the magazine to work as well as I am picturing in my head. I feel as if I want to do something yet I can't do it.


The willing models I could use is my boyfriend and his friends for a boy band, or random people. The struggle would be a proper camera. I really want this magazine to work effectively to secure myself a B or above in the exam and coursework. I will have to work hard for this photo photo and get a range just so I can choose which one if the best out of them. I want a serious looking front cover unless themed differently but I think they work best with not allot of expression.

Music magazine audience research

This is my readership profile for my magazine flawd.

Here I used a focus group to gather information about my style of magazine. I used an estimated guess on the statistics however and did this by using NME and Q's statistics and coming up with it from their. I asked a few people who had looked at my magazine some questions that are answered in the readers agree section and also noted some of the things, readers like to do at the bottom.

THIS IS THE OFFICIAL START OF MY MUSIC MAGAZINE COURSEWORK.
I will be updating this blog post, updating my progress with what I do in lessons and in free time. Happy Following.
Today I have started to choose a masthead name or design. I am looking for a indie looking band which means that it has to be a bit weird or quirky. I want my design different than others.
I will be uploading a design soon enough to shows some of my idea for a name called BACK UP.

 

 

I have names my magazine DRUGGED. This is because I believe that the magazines like this will become addictive and some of the bands that are used in them are also addicting to read about and to follow so i believe the title  fits quite well. Also indie music artists tend to be out of control and may be actually on drugs and wild. The name Drugged links with the font which I have chosen. This was a  distraught look that I found which links to the idea of drugs causing mad things and weird goings on.

I like all of these titles. The other name that I may change it to is FLAWD. I like this because sometimes the music can be flawd and I generally like the way it looks as a music magazine title. I may change my mind with drugged and flawd however. I don't seem to be able to make my mind up.

I particularly like this font.

 

 I have chosen the FLAWD logo and the first one that you can see. I have however changed the A in it to bold and with a red outline to make it a bit different and to stand out. The word flawed except the A is also blurred.

 I am wanting some photos of maybe a band of 3 -5 people. On the front with them either being funny or serious looking into the screen almost like these. I want these as my COVER PHOTO.

 This one is just fun and I like it.

 This one look more sophisticated.

 I like the simplicity of this one. But the arrangement is really good and I would like to do something like this.

 I like this one because of the expressions on their faces..

 I like these, because they are different and it just looks good on the front cover.

I really like these below as ideas for contents pages.

  I like this contents page because of the picture and because there isn't too much information.

   MASTHEAD. THIS IS THE ONE I AM STICKING TO EVEN THOUGH THE A MIGHT CHANGE THE WHOLE THING IS EXACTLY WHAT I'M DOING. MY MAGAZINE IS CALLED FLAWD.

 

I have also created a tag line for the band and what will draw the attention in.  

 

 

 

I am trying to get hold of a band that lives next door to my dad so that I can use them as my music magazine,. they fit the style of it as well.   

 

 

This is my magazine so far. It has some cover line and the main headline and the title of it. It also have some unique selling points. I really just need photography.
